Reactions from Gashi, Ahmeti, Mexhiti and Kasami following The Hague ruling

The Speaker of the Assembly of North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, reacted following the verdict handed down by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Gashi stated that no court ruling could erase the roles of Thaçi, Krasniqi, Veseli and Selimi in one of the most glorious chapters in Kosovo’s history.

Ali Ahmeti, leader of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), also described today’s ruling by the court in The Hague as unjust and deeply disappointing.

He called on citizens to remain calm and united, stressing that neither division nor the tarnishing of the Kosovo Liberation Army’s war should be allowed.

Ahmeti said the indictment charged Thaçi, Krasniqi, Veseli and Selimi with a series of alleged crimes committed in 1998-1999. According to him, these charges are also expected to be dismissed as the judicial process continues, just as the earlier allegations of organ trafficking failed to materialize.

He added that today’s ruling in The Hague against the KLA leaders was disappointing and deeply unjust to the people of Kosovo and the entire nation.

VLEN co-chairman Izet Mexhiti described the sentencing of the former KLA leaders as a disappointing decision that was unjust to the people of Kosovo and the nation as a whole.

Meanwhile, Bilall Kasami expressed regret over the Specialist Chambers’ decision to sentence the former KLA leaders, describing it as harsh against those who contributed to Kosovo’s liberation.

In statements posted on Facebook, the VLEN leaders emphasized that the pursuit of justice must continue until it prevails.
