Ademi Opposes 50/50 Option for the Bar Exam: We Were Not Consulted and We Do Not Accept It, Students’ Demand Remains the Same

Mevlan Ademi from the Albanian Student Movement has once again reacted following the latest signals about delaying a solution to the issue of organizing the bar exam in the Albanian language, as well as after mention of the possibility that the exam could be held under a half-Albanian, half-Macedonian model.

According to him, institutions had given their word that this issue would be resolved within a week, but now a timeframe of more than six months is being mentioned. Ademi says that, during this time, entire generations of law students are graduating without having the opportunity to take the professional exam in their mother tongue, while every additional month of delay, according to him, leaves hundreds of young people waiting.

“They promised a solution in 1 week. Now they say 6+ months. Meanwhile, entire generations of lawyers are graduating without the opportunity to take the exam in their own language. Every month of delay = hundreds of young people waiting. And the new ‘solution’? Half in Albanian, half in Macedonian. They did not ask us. Nor do we accept it. Half an exam is not half a right — it is a denied right. Our demand has not changed and will not change: ✅ Full and immediate implementation of the Language Law. Exams ENTIRELY in Albanian. No delays, no empty promises. SPEAK ALBANIAN, O TAJ!”

We recall that several weeks earlier, government representatives stated that the bar exam could be organized 50/50 in Albanian and Macedonian. Meanwhile, the VLEN party said that efforts are being made so that not only this exam, but several others as well, could also be held in the Albanian language.
