Adem Salihaj warns that the LDK is risking heading toward destruction

After a weak showing in the most recent elections, movements have begun within the LDK aimed at changes at the top of the party.

According to sources within the party, signatures are being secured to call an extraordinary assembly, at which the dismissal of chairman Lumir Abdixhiku is also expected to be considered.

The same sources say this initiative was undertaken by Gazmend Muhaxheri.

Former LDK MP Adem Salihaj believes that the internal divisions and the initiative to remove Lumir Abdixhiku could cause serious damage to the LDK.

He is calling for a new electoral process within the party, while warning that internal conflicts could lead the party toward ruin.

“The Democratic League of Kosovo is entering a dangerous process, which could damage it irreparably. The petition aims simply at dismissing Lumir Abdixhiku, not solving the problem. A year ago I had asked Lumir Abdixhiku to resign; back then, perhaps a solution could have been reached without major upheaval.

The situation today is very dangerous and is leading the LDK toward destruction. The solution is not in internal battles; the solution is in a new electoral process, starting from the branches and proceeding without tensions. Likewise, I have asked several times for the chairman to be elected by direct vote, not like it is today.

Lumir Abdixhiku was used up quickly, but even those who claim they want to become chairman are offering nothing more.

These clashes are a warning of a new downfall of the LDK. All of us who have loved and still love the LDK should be very concerned,” Salihaj told “Bota sot”.
