Abdixhiku honors the memory of Ahmet Krasniqi on the 28th anniversary of his assassination

The chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, commemorated Colonel Ahmet Krasniqi, who was killed in Tirana 28 years ago. On this occasion, he called for the case to be fully solved and justice to be served for the former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo.

Abdixhiku paid his respects at Krasniqi’s grave in Velania Cemetery, accompanied by family members, fellow activists and officials from the Ministry of Defense.

During the commemoration, the LDK leader praised Ahmet Krasniqi as one of the important figures in organizing Kosovo’s defense during the war.

“A career military officer, strategist and patriot, he led the organization of Kosovo’s defense during its darkest days,” Abdixhiku wrote.

According to him, Krasniqi, whom he described as the Minister of War, was a military officer who recognized President Ibrahim Rugova as supreme commander. Abdixhiku said that he regarded defending the Republic as a duty, while the freedom of the people was the purpose of his life.

Speaking about the killing, Abdixhiku described it as “a blow to our very struggle for freedom.” He said that the failure to solve the case, even after 28 years, was linked to the lack of justice.

The LDK leader reiterated that his party would continue to demand that Krasniqi’s killing and all political killings be solved.

“The LDK will forever demand that his killing and all political killings be solved,” Abdixhiku declared, emphasizing that this commitment “does not expire.”

Ahmet Krasniqi, former Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo, was killed in Tirana on September 21, 1998.
