19-year-old who stabbed a 13-year-old in Čair sent to 30 days in pre-trial detention

The Basic Criminal Court in Skopje has ordered 30 days of pre-trial detention for 19-year-old B.I. from Skopje, who is suspected of committing violence against a child in Čair, Skopje.

The decision was issued by the pre-trial judge following a request from the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Skopje and the suspect’s statement regarding the case.

The prosecution has charged B.I. with the criminal offense of “Violence,” as provided for under Article 386, paragraph 6, in connection with paragraphs 3 and 1 of the Criminal Code.

The detention measure was imposed based on the circumstances set out in Article 165, paragraph 1, points 1, 2 and 3 of the Criminal Procedure Law. According to the court, there is a risk that the suspect could flee, influence witnesses and obstruct the investigation, as well as the possibility that he could repeat the criminal offense.

The parties may appeal the decision within 24 hours to the Criminal Council of the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje./Telegrafi/
