The court has imposed security measures on the 11 people arrested in connection with the serious incident in Ksamil, where 20-year-old Portuguese national Luis Miguel Varela Mendez was killed.

The decisions for each of the detainees were announced by Judge Shkëlzen Liçaj following a lengthy court hearing that lasted around 10 hours.
For Sokrat Vata, also known by the alias Sokrat Lipan and suspected of being the perpetrator of the killing, the court imposed the measure of “Arrest in prison.” The same measure was imposed on the two Turkish nationals, Ezgi Parlak and Nuh Mahmutoglu.
The court also remanded three waiters from the establishment where the incident occurred in custody for a period of 45 days: Ildi Cekani, Ervis Bunci and Serxhi Selimi.
The other five people were released from custody, while the measure of “Obligation to report to the judicial police” was imposed on them.
The measure was imposed on Moisid Matushaj, a police officer who worked as a bodyguard; Lucjano Seferi, a Fier prison officer who worked as a bodyguard; Romeo Shehu, an officer of the Gjirokastër Municipal Police who worked as a bodyguard; Murat Zhabina, a waiter; and Kristi Koshi, a bodyguard.
