According to the court’s announcement, there is grounded suspicion that the defendant committed the criminal offenses of “Association for unconstitutional activities,” “Endangering internationally protected persons,” “Participation in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism,” “Assault on an official” and “Unauthorized possession, control or ownership of weapons.”

At this stage of the proceedings, the court considered pretrial detention to be the most appropriate measure because of the risk that Marković could flee and evade criminal responsibility.

As part of its reasoning, the court cited the fact that Igor Marković is a Serbian citizen, assessing that this increases the possibility of his leaving and the judicial authorities losing access to him.

The court also found that there was a possibility that the suspect could interfere with witnesses or evidence, creating obstacles to the continuation of the criminal proceedings.

Based on these circumstances, the Basic Court in Pristina assessed that pretrial detention was, for the time being, the only measure that would enable the criminal proceedings to continue without obstruction.

The suspicions against Igor Marković are linked to the events of May 2023 in Zvečan, during which KFOR members and Kosovo Police officers were attacked.
