Zemaj Ahead of LDK Assembly: Delegates Will Determine the Party’s Future, I Expect No Tensions

Ahead of the start of the extraordinary assembly of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Armend Zemaj said that all delegates have the right to decide the party’s political fate and future. The meeting will consider the motion to dismiss LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku.

Zemaj said he does not expect the process to be accompanied by tensions among members. According to him, delegates have faced some media pressure, but such developments are part of democracy and are not seen in other parties, or even elsewhere in the region.

Asked whether he might run for the leadership of the LDK, he said he would not shy away from the responsibility if asked to do so. However, Zemaj stressed that the issue at hand was not a candidacy for party leader.

Speaking about the vote on the motion at the assembly, Zemaj recalled that he was among those who signed the request for it to be held. He emphasized that the signature represents a specific request, while the vote is secret and its integrity must be protected.

Finally, when asked whether he was optimistic about the outcome of the process, Zemaj gave a brief response, saying he believed he was.
