Zemaj: Party Statute Requires Collection of Signatures, Extraordinary Assembly Can Be Requested by One-Third of Delegates

Armend Zemaj, an LDK MP-elect, has said that securing signatures to convene the party’s Extraordinary Assembly is an obligation stemming from its statute.

According to him, one-third of the delegates of the Democratic League of Kosovo have the legal and statutory right to request an extraordinary meeting for a specific purpose.

Zemaj stressed that this is a statutory and legal obligation set out in the LDK statute, which allows one-third of the delegates to convene an extraordinary meeting of the Assembly of the Democratic League of Kosovo on a specific issue.

He announced that 118 signatures had been collected from a total of 355 delegates, confirming that the required number had been reached and verified.

Speaking about the delegates, Zemaj said they had received a mandate of trust at branch assemblies and enjoyed credibility within the party’s structures.

He described them as figures with a long record of contributions to the LDK, with identity and reputation, professional experience and an important role in the party.

Regarding verification, Zemaj said it was being carried out within the party’s internal procedures and did not need to become a matter of public debate.

According to him, the way this issue is being handled shows that there is a disconnect between the LDK leadership and its membership.

Zemaj also criticized the way some members of the leadership were treating the delegates, calling on them to clarify their positions.

In conclusion, he said he knew all 355 delegates, their backgrounds, identities and the positions they had held. Zemaj added that he also knew their circles, families and relatives who are part of the LDK, clarifying that the statement was not intended to sound subjective or personal.
