Wiretaps published by Ahmetaj, former Socialist Party MP: There are attempts to traffic a*rms, from ordinary people to criminal groups!

Former Socialist Party MP Denis Deliu, speaking as a guest on News24, commented on the audio recording published by Arben Ahmetaj, which allegedly concerns arms trafficking in Albania involving the state-owned company KAYO.

He said he does not believe that arms trafficking is involved, but stressed that the justice system must do its job and uncover the truth behind the audio recordings.

“The justice system must do its job and investigate these recordings; I cannot speculate any further. I think it was a good law, drafted in consultation with experts. At the same time, we needed a state-owned company to produce and manage weapons, as many other countries have. The needs created by the war in Ukraine brought major changes. Albania must not fall behind,” the former Socialist Party MP stated.

According to him, arms trafficking is difficult because it requires the involvement of many countries and institutions, but he did not rule out the possibility of attempts to traffic arms by anyone from ordinary people to criminal groups.

“Arms trafficking is very difficult. It is up to the justice system to uncover the truth. Arms trafficking is not something that is very easy. There are certainly attempts by everyone from ordinary people to organized criminal groups. But arms trafficking is very difficult and requires the involvement of many countries and institutions,” he said.
