Lala: Ahmetaj’s wiretaps are a “bomb” in government; Yeffet acted like defense minister

Well-known journalist Klodiana Lala, speaking as a guest on News24, said that the publication of wiretapped recordings involving former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj was a “bomb” that reached the highest levels of government.

She expressed strong suspicions that intelligence services from European partner countries were behind the recordings, while calling on the justice system to urgently investigate the trafficking of weapons and the misuse of state institutions.

The materials contain hours of recordings that shed light on the behind-the-scenes activities of Israeli national Roni Yeffet, who is known as a personal friend of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

They document how Albanian territory was being used to package and transit weapons arriving from abroad, creating the impression that “Albania was up for sale.”

Lala pointed out that Yeffet’s influence within state structures was so great that he acted like a “defense minister.”

At the center of this activity is cooperation between the state-owned arms manufacturer “KAYO” and the private company “Timak Defense.”

It is suspected that the state-owned company “KAYO” was placed at the service of private interests and the arms business, facilitating military logistics operations on behalf of third parties.

The journalist also stressed that the time had come for SPAK to rise to the occasion and investigate these wiretapped recordings, because the evidence revealed another serious scandal at the highest level of the state.

According to her, Ahmetaj’s wiretapped recordings were a bomb, and powerful intelligence services from European partner countries were behind them. Lala mentioned contacts in the prime minister’s antechamber, that Albania was up for sale, and that the country was being used to package weapons from abroad.

She stressed that the time had come for justice institutions to rise to the required level and investigate the wiretapped recordings. According to her, discussions following the publications indicate that the recordings comprise hours of surveillance involving Israeli national Ron Yeffet, the prime minister’s personal friend. She mentioned the companies Timak Defense and KAYO, describing KAYO as a state-owned company, and added that Ron Yeffet went so far as to regard himself as the defense minister.
