Wildfires Across the Country, Defense Ministry: Nine Hotspots Under Monitoring, Residential Areas Out of Danger

The Ministry of Defense has published the latest data on the wildfire situation in Albania, announcing that nine hotspots in different parts of the country have been kept under observation throughout the day.

According to the ministry, the situation has improved significantly thanks to coordinated operations on the ground and from the air. At present, there is no threat to communities or residential areas.

In Dajt, the intervention by Fire Protection and Rescue Service forces and the Administration of Protected Areas, supported by an Air Force helicopter, made it possible to extinguish the flames. The area continues to be monitored, while the fire in Priskë has been completely extinguished.

In the village of Çikallesh in Kavajë Municipality, the fire has been fully contained following the deployment of firefighters from Kavajë, Kamza and Rrogozhina, as well as the intervention of an “Air Tractor” aircraft.

In Mallakastër Municipality, the hotspots in Riban, Ngraçan and Panahor have been contained along their entire perimeter. However, these areas remain under surveillance.

One of the most concerning situations arose in Plan të Bardhë, in Klos Municipality, where the wind fueled the spread of the flames and posed a risk to homes and electrical infrastructure. The fire was brought under control following the intervention of firefighters, the State Police, local authorities, volunteers and 25 Armed Forces personnel.

The hotspots in Kostren 2, in Berat Municipality, and Uruç, in Peqin Municipality, have been completely extinguished. Meanwhile, in Alikomemaj, Memaliaj Municipality, operational forces are continuing their efforts to neutralize a fire that has engulfed an area of pine trees.
