Wildfire Situation Nationwide: 227 Personnel and 16 Vehicles Deployed, Aircraft Also Activated

At least 227 operational personnel and 16 firefighting and support vehicles are currently deployed to tackle wildfires across the country, according to the latest update published by the Ministry of Defense.

Ground operations are also being supported from the air, with three helicopters and one Air Tractor aircraft deployed.

In Tirana County, several fires in the Dajt area, near the Selita water plant, reignited around midday. Crews are continuing their work and monitoring the situation, while the Ministry of Defense reports that residential areas are not at risk.

The intervention by firefighting teams, also supported from the air, has significantly reduced the intensity of the flames in Cikallesh, Kavaja. The fire in this area is close to being fully extinguished.

Meanwhile, operations remain active in Priskë e Madhe to bring several small fires under control.

In Fier County, the fire along the Panahor–Ndrenie–Vlosht road in Mallakastër has been brought under control and poses no threat to residential areas. The fire in the Koilac–Greshicë area is also reported to be under control.

The situation has also stabilized in Abazë, Kruja, where only a few small fires remain, mainly in areas with difficult terrain. Civil Emergency structures, Kruja Municipality, the Fire Protection and Rescue Service, the forestry service and the Durrës County Prefecture are taking part in the operation. No risk to homes has been reported in this area either.

In Vilëz, Kurbin, the situation has required particular attention after the fire reignited in a forested area. Difficult terrain and wind posed a risk to the church, cemetery and several homes.

Around 50 personnel from the Fire Protection and Rescue Service, Civil Emergencies, the Police, local authorities, the forestry service and volunteers have joined efforts to extinguish the flames. Two helicopters intervened from the air, preventing the fire from spreading and keeping it from reaching the church, cemetery and surrounding homes.

However, the fire in Vilëz remains active, and efforts to extinguish it are still ongoing.

The Ministry of Defense reports that Civil Protection system structures are conducting uninterrupted air and ground operations, with the aim of isolating, controlling and completely extinguishing every active fire.
