Wildfire situation across the country, Ministry of Defense issues assessment: 34 fires in 24 hours, here are the most affected areas

The Ministry of Defense has issued an assessment of the wildfire situation over the past 24 hours. A total of 34 fires have been reported across the country, of which 5 remain active and 2 are under surveillance.

According to the Ministry of Defense, a total of 481 operational personnel and 44 firefighting vehicles have been deployed to manage the situation.

In support of local structures, 105 members of the Armed Forces, 2 Armed Forces firefighting vehicles, 3 helicopters and 1 AIR TRACTOR aircraft have also been deployed.

The active fires are concentrated in the Tirana and Dibër counties.

Work is continuing on Mount Dajti following the reactivation of three fires, with 25 firefighters/AZM personnel and 20 Armed Forces members deployed.

In Dibër County, the fires at Qafë të Helmës, Vajkal, Sllatinë and Komsi remain active.

Currently, 61 personnel are deployed in Vajkal, including 30 Armed Forces members, while 78 personnel are operating in Sllatinë; an additional 25 Armed Forces members have been deployed in Komsi.

According to reports, the populated areas near these fires are not at risk.

In Elbasan, the fires on Mount Dardhë and Mount Qukës are under surveillance and do not pose a risk to populated areas.

Yesterday, significant intervention also took place in Tërbaç, Vranisht, Himarë, where ground forces, 2 helicopters and 1 AIR TRACTOR aircraft were deployed, as well as in Xhyrë, Librazhd, where 1 Armed Forces helicopter also intervened; both fires have been declared extinguished.

The National Civil Protection Agency (AKMC) continues to monitor the situation across the country’s entire territory without interruption, in close coordination with the prefectures, municipalities and all structures of the Civil Protection system.

Operational capacities remain deployed in the field and on standby to intervene wherever the situation requires, with priority given to protecting lives, homes and citizens’ property.
