Ministry of Defense on the wildfire situation: 27 fires reported, 8 remain active

The Ministry of Defense announced the latest situation regarding wildfires in the country, based on data updated at 20:00 on September 3, 2026.

A total of 27 fires were identified during the day. Of these, 17 have been extinguished, 2 continue to be monitored, while 8 remain active.

A total of 265 operational personnel and 38 firefighting vehicles have been deployed to manage the situation. They have also been supported by 170 members of the Armed Forces with 3 firefighting vehicles, while Air Force helicopters have taken part in four operations.

Operations have focused mainly on the Dibër, Lezhë, Tirana and Shkodër counties.

In Dibër County, teams are working to extinguish fires in Vajkal, Lundre–Madhesh and Mallunxë–Lis. Operations in the Mat area have also received aerial support. The Ministry of Defense said that these fires do not pose a risk to homes.

A fire has reignited in the Dajti area, but 60 personnel have been deployed there and, according to the assessment of the situation, populated areas are not at risk.

The most serious situation has been reported in Lezhë County, along the Kalivaç–Zimaj–Kashnjet route, where residents have also been evacuated.

Two Air Force helicopters, 50 military personnel and 3 firefighting vehicles are operating in the area, in cooperation with local structures.

In Mnelë e Vogël, in Vau i Dejës, the flames have lost intensity and the danger to populated areas has been eliminated. Response teams continue working to extinguish the fire completely.

The National Civil Protection Agency is monitoring the situation throughout the country, in coordination with the prefectures, municipalities and Civil Protection system structures.

Operational personnel and equipment remain in the field and on standby for response, while the priority is to guarantee the safety of citizens, their homes and property.
