Wikoff holds meetings with the Serb List and the mayor of North Mitrovica

Admiral George M. Wikoff, commander of NATO’s Allied Joint Force Command Naples, met with representatives of the Serb List and the mayor of North Mitrovica. The outgoing KFOR commander, Major General Özkan Ulutaş, and his successor, Major General Roberto Vergori, also attended the meeting.

The discussion focused on the security situation in Kosovo and the need to maintain stability. It was also confirmed during the talks that KFOR’s mandate has not changed.

According to the statement, KFOR’s mission remains committed to all citizens and communities in Kosovo, with the aim of ensuring a safe environment and freedom of movement for everyone.

Following the meeting, NATO stressed that lasting stability cannot rely solely on a military presence, as it also requires political engagement.

“However, long-term security depends on political solutions, not military measures,” the statement said.
