Was She Killed by a Homeless Person She Was Helping? New Details in British Woman’s Mysterious Death in Athens

Greek investigators are seriously considering the possibility that she was killed by someone she was trying to help.

According to British media, the investigation has found that Ross, known to her friends as Lisa, was heavily involved in humanitarian work and had frequently visited Greece over the past seven years, working with non-governmental organizations that supported homeless people and vulnerable groups in society.

The British woman, described as deeply religious, was known to her relatives and friends for her strong desire to help others and her commitment to social causes.

Local residents said that a few days before she disappeared, they had seen the 38-year-old talking to homeless people near an abandoned parking area in Kypseli, a place often frequented by people living on the streets.

A retired local resident said she had noticed a foreign woman talking to homeless people but had not thought anything of it at the time, as many volunteers visit the area to offer help.

However, after later seeing photographs of the woman found dead inside the suitcase, she realized it was the same person. Greek police are now investigating whether Ross’s contact with people in the area may be connected to her disappearance and death.

The investigation is focusing on a homeless man with numerous tattoos, known as Markos, who is suspected of using drugs and consuming large amounts of alcohol.

According to publicly available information, he had previously come to the attention of the authorities and is believed to have stayed in the same abandoned building where the British woman’s body was found. However, no charges have been brought against him so far, and the authorities are continuing to gather evidence.

Greek police have made the case an absolute priority, British media report, while officers from the Crimes Against Life Investigation Department are working to solve it.

An autopsy, toxicological analyses and histological examinations are under way, and the authorities expect them to provide important information about the exact cause of the 38-year-old’s death.

Meanwhile, investigators believe that the person who placed the body in the suitcase took care not to leave fingerprints or DNA evidence, making the case more difficult to solve.

Mysterious Messages From Her Phone

Another important line of inquiry concerns a series of messages sent from Elizabeth Ross’s phone after her disappearance.

Her father, a lawyer in Edinburgh, said he continued to receive messages from his daughter’s phone for about two weeks after her death.

One of them said the 38-year-old “needed some time to herself” and “wanted to be alone for a while.”

Investigators suspect the messages were sent by a third party in an attempt to delay the discovery of her disappearance.

Analysis of the phone data helped the authorities establish that the messages had been sent from Athens, while local media reported that the device was switched off immediately after the case attracted international attention.

Testimony considered crucial came from a homeless person who found the suitcase on July 18. He said the suitcase had not been in the abandoned building two days earlier, leading investigators to conclude that the body was taken there on the evening of July 17 or in the early hours of the following day.

At the same time, the authorities are trying to identify people the British woman may have known in Kypseli, as the couple she was living with in Keratsini said Ross had told them she was going to meet several American acquaintances in the area.

The investigation is continuing as police work to reconstruct the final days of the 38-year-old’s life and determine what happened before she was found dead inside the suitcase.
