A homeless man discovered the body of a woman inside a suitcase last month in an abandoned building in Athens’ Kypseli neighborhood.

Greek public broadcaster ERT reported that the victim is believed to be Elisabeth-Jane Ross, a 38-year-old woman from Scotland who is thought to have traveled from Cyprus to Greece last month. Investigators estimate that she had died five to seven days before her body was found.
Greek authorities said the British national was identified through fingerprints that matched Interpol records for a woman born in 1988.
Police Scotland has confirmed that it is cooperating with the Greek authorities in the investigation. Meanwhile, authorities in Greece are awaiting further information from their British counterparts regarding the victim’s identity and movements.
The cause of death has not yet been determined and is expected to be clarified once forensic examinations have been completed. Investigations to establish the full circumstances of the incident are continuing.
A Greek police spokesperson said: “The British authorities have been asked for further details regarding when she arrived in Greece and who she traveled with. We cannot provide any more information at this stage, as the investigations are still ongoing.”
