Video/ Major wildfires in Canada force military to evacuate residents, smoke spreads into the US

Canadian authorities have deployed the military for evacuation operations as the country faces a difficult situation caused by major forest fires in the most exposed areas.

The Canadian Armed Forces have begun airlifting around 600 residents from Fort Hope, an isolated community in northwestern Ontario. In this area, the flames continue to spread rapidly.

In the past 24 hours, 69 new fires have been recorded, according to Canadian authorities. This has brought the number of active fires nationwide to 955. So far, thousands of residents have left the affected regions and been taken to safer cities in southern Ontario.

The impact of the fires has also crossed the Canadian border. Thick smoke has spread to several US states, where warnings have been issued over deteriorating air quality. Citizens, especially vulnerable groups, have been urged to reduce time spent and activities outdoors.

According to climate experts, forest fires are becoming increasingly frequent in Canada, as high temperatures and periods of drought create favorable conditions for their spread. Authorities continue efforts to bring the flames under control while closely monitoring developments.
