Video/ Explosion on a Minibus in Damascus Suburb Leaves 2 Dead and 13 Injured

An explosion on a passenger minibus in Jaramana, a suburb of Damascus, killed two people and injured 13 others on Thursday evening, according to reports by Syrian state media.

Initial reports by state television Al-Ikhbariya said the explosion had occurred inside the vehicle, but at that stage no details were provided about the number of casualties or the circumstances of the incident.

Later, the state-run SANA news agency, citing the Directorate of Referrals, Ambulances and Emergencies at the Ministry of Health, confirmed the toll of two dead and 13 injured.

Following the explosion, ambulances, forensic teams from the Interior Ministry, Civil Defense personnel and representatives of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent arrived at the scene. The damaged vehicle was removed by crane to allow technical examinations to be carried out and the investigation to continue.

At the time of reporting, Syria’s Interior Ministry and security authorities had not issued an official statement. No group had claimed responsibility for the attack either.

Photos and videos shared on social media show the minibus heavily damaged, while parts of it can be seen scattered on the road and near residential buildings.

It remains unknown what caused the explosion. Al-Ikhbariya reported that the incident occurred shortly after sheikhs and community leaders in Jaramana issued a statement on Syria’s unity and opposed any calls that could undermine political peace in the country.
