Venezuelan footballer recounts pain of losing his partner: Andrea gave her life to save our daughter

The partner of Venezuelan footballer Héctor Bello lost her life during the powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela as she tried to pull their young daughter from the rubble.

In an Instagram post, Bello said that Andrea sacrificed herself during the building’s collapse to save their child.

“I will tell her the story of how you saved her, my love, and how you gave your life for our daughter, how you were a brave woman who never gave up, even in the final moments of your life,” the footballer wrote.

According to reports, the couple’s daughter survived and is in hospital together with her aunt. After the tragedy, the footballer himself also traveled to Caracas to stay close to them.

“My daughter and her aunt are fine. They will remain in hospital. Thank you all for your support during this great pain,” he said.

In another emotional message, Bello spoke about the pain of losing Andrea: “How do I explain to my daughter that you lost your life to save her and that I was not there to do anything? Give me strength now.”

Andrea’s death was also confirmed by the Venezuelan football organization “Cumaná de Campeones,” which said that she was found under the rubble after the collapse of the building where the family lived.

The earthquakes near the capital, Caracas, have left many victims and thousands injured, while rescue teams continue searching for survivors and missing people.

Among the victims of this tragedy are also two young footballers. Caracas Football Club announced that U-18 team player Razan Sijaa lost his life together with his family members in La Guaira.

Likewise, Victor Palacios, a footballer from the Club Sport San Agustín academy, was also confirmed dead. The Venezuelan Football Federation expressed its condolences to the victims’ families.

Meanwhile, former Miss Venezuela Giselle Reyes said that her mother also lost her life after the complete collapse of the building where she lived in La Guaira. According to her, her mother suffered a heart attack as a result of the shock and the effects of the earthquakes.

Venezuelan authorities are continuing search-and-rescue operations, while the death toll is expected to change as missing people are identified.
