The United States Embassy in Tirana has issued a notice to American citizens regarding the protest taking place this Tuesday evening on Durrës Street.

According to the embassy, the gathering near Skanderbeg Square has turned violent following stone-throwing. The notice emphasizes that the protest could spread to surrounding areas, including nearby blocks and government buildings.
US authorities warn that developments could lead to an increased police presence, traffic disruptions, diversions and road closures.
“A protest on Durrës Street, adjacent to Skanderbeg Square, is currently ongoing and has turned violent due to stone-throwing. The protest could spread to nearby blocks and government buildings, potentially leading to an increased police presence, traffic disruptions, diversions and road closures,” the embassy’s notice states.
American citizens are advised to avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place, remain vigilant and prioritize their personal safety above all else.
The embassy also asks them to monitor local media reports and follow the guidance of local law enforcement authorities for the latest information.
