Preliminary reports indicate that they alerted authorities to the situation after losing their bearings and requested assistance from rescue teams.
Immediately after receiving the signal, rescue teams from the Administration of Protected Areas headed to the area in cooperation with the police.
The search-and-rescue operation is ongoing, while teams on the ground are working to determine the exact location of the two tourists.
