Trump: We Are Suspending Strikes on Iran to Pave the Way for Diplomacy, but Are Ready for Military Action

The US administration has decided to temporarily halt strikes against Iran to give negotiators another opportunity to find a diplomatic solution, US President Donald Trump said.

During an interview with Axios, the White House chief said the US remains open to dialogue, while stressing that the possibility of military intervention remains on the table.

“We are halting strikes on Iran to give diplomacy a chance. However, if negotiations fail, we are ready for strong military action,” the US president said.

Trump’s statement indicates that Washington wants to prioritize diplomacy first, without ruling out the use of force if talks with Iran fail to produce the expected results.
