Trump increases pressure on Iran: We will strike with force, but talks continue

US President Donald Trump has reiterated his tough stance on Iran, warning of a powerful response in the event of rocket attacks against US troops deployed in Jordan.

During a conversation with Fox News, he stated unequivocally: “We will crush them. Our strike will be strong.”

The president explained that the American reaction came as a result of the attack on their forces in Jordan by Iranian ballistic missiles. He said that the military had only a few minutes available to destroy the missiles and that he had followed the operation through video footage.

Further, Trump labeled the armed groups backed by Iran as “a cancer for humanity,” while confirming that the airstrikes carried out by the US overnight against Iraqi Shiite militias, linked to Tehran, were conducted in cooperation with Iraqi authorities.

Despite the high tensions, he hinted that diplomatic channels between Washington and Tehran remain open and that negotiations are proceeding in parallel with the latest developments.

Trump’s words had an immediate impact on global fuel markets. On Wednesday, markets recorded a significant increase in the price of oil, following the president’s warning that Iran would face a harsh response for the alleged attack on American positions.

Specifically, Brent crude oil climbed 5.8%, reaching $86.82 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude surged 6.4%, hitting $84.30 per barrel.
