Trump criticizes Anthropic chief: The US is ahead of China in the artificial intelligence race

Donald Trump has sharply criticized remarks by Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, who had discussed the possibility of slowing the development of artificial intelligence models.

In a message published on Truth Social, the US president said that AI does not need further controls. According to him, it needs a “strong and smart” president—a role that, as Trump emphasized, the United States currently fulfills.

“The only protection AI needs is a strong and smart president, with a high IQ, and the United States has that, and in abundance,” he wrote.

Trump said that his administration had taken measures to prevent artificial intelligence company executives from taking actions he considers bad or dangerous. Speaking about Amodei, the US president accused him of trying to present himself as a “perfect little angel.”

He added that the US administration possesses “extraordinary power” over AI companies through criminal proceedings and legal regulations.

In the same post, Trump denounced what he called a “sick conspiracy” against artificial intelligence and data centers. According to the president, China would be the only beneficiary of such a development.

“Whoever wins artificial intelligence, wins,” Trump declared, claiming that the United States is currently ahead of China and all other countries in this technological race.

“We are ahead of China and everyone else, and we will continue to be,” he said.

Trump concluded his message with a direct warning to conspiracy theorists, traitors, deserters and people who leak information. “Be careful,” the US president wrote.

Trump’s reaction comes at a time when the competition between the United States and China for supremacy in artificial intelligence development has become one of the main strategic and technological priorities of the US administration.
