Tragic Toll from Russia-Ukraine Attacks, at Least 14 Killed in Reciprocal Strikes

At least 14 people have been killed over the past 24 hours in reciprocal attacks between Russia and Ukraine.

Authorities in both countries reported that Ukrainian strikes killed six people in Russia’s Belgorod region, while Moscow’s bombardments of Ukrainian territory left at least eight dead and dozens wounded.

In Belgorod, a Russian region near the border with Ukraine, Governor Alexander Shuvaev said a Ukrainian drone struck a bus in the city of Shebekino. Five civilians—four women and a teenager—were killed, while 23 other people were wounded. Three of the injured are in critical condition.

Shuvaev later reported another Ukrainian strike in the city of Belgorod. A drone hit a car wash, killing one person and wounding ten others.

At the same time, Russian airstrikes hit several regions of Ukraine and killed at least eight people.

In Odesa, Russian bombardments struck a company building, killing three people and wounding eight others. Regional Governor Oleh Kipper released footage from the affected area showing destroyed vehicles and firefighters trying to extinguish the flames.

In the city of Pavlohrad, in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region, the attacks left two people dead and nine wounded, according to Regional Governor Oleksandr Khanza.

Another person was killed in Zaporizhzhia, while nine others were wounded in a Russian attack, Governor Ivan Fedorov said.

Russian bombardments also struck Kramatorsk, one of the main cities in the Donetsk region that remains under Ukrainian control. Local police reported that two people were killed and four others wounded.

The regional administration said seven more people were wounded in a Russian attack in the southern Kherson region.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues with no sign of easing. Nearly four and a half years after the Russian invasion began, diplomatic efforts to secure a peace agreement remain stalled.
