Ukrainian Drone Attacks in Southern Russia Kill at Least Five

At least five people were killed and around 17 others injured in Ukrainian air attacks in southern Russia, according to statements from Russian regional authorities.

The heaviest toll was recorded in Rostov-on-Don, a city near the Sea of Azov, after a drone struck a residential building. A couple were initially reported killed, but search-and-rescue teams later found the bodies of three other people under the rubble, including a child.

The governor of the Rostov region said five people were injured in the strike, two of whom are in critical condition. Falling drone debris also sparked several fires in the city.

Another drone strike was recorded in Belgorod, injuring 12 people, including two children. According to the authorities, the attack also caused a fire to break out in an apartment building.

At the same time, Russian forces continued their bombardment of Ukraine. Local authorities reported that one civilian was killed and two other people were injured in the Zaporizhzhia region in an attack involving a guided aerial bomb and drones.

Russian forces also targeted the northern Sumy region, where people were injured in a guided aerial bomb strike.
