Tragedy on Mexico’s highway, truck crashes into accident vehicles and rescue team, 10 victims

A serious chain accident has shaken the municipality of Hostotipaquillo in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, where at least 10 lives were lost, including two children, and nine others were injured.

Authorities reported that a heavy transport vehicle, traveling at excessive speed, crashed violently into several cars that had been part of a previous collision. Moreover, the vehicle also struck the emergency response team that was assisting the injured at that moment.

Footage obtained by the National Guard shows a scene of destruction: a dense cloud of smoke, flames, and vehicle debris scattered across the roadway, indicating the catastrophic scale of the event.

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus described the events as “a deep tragedy that has plunged not only Jalisco but also Nayarit into mourning,” expressing his sincerest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones.

He stressed that authorities are providing full assistance to the survivors and their families, while the injured are being transported to both public and private hospital centers for specialized care.

On the ground, Civil Protection forces and fire departments continue non-stop work to clear the area, as competent authorities have launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of this multiple tragedy.
