Tragedy in Milan, police officer loses his life after motorcycle chase of a car carrying Albanians

Two Albanian nationals have been detained as part of an investigation into a serious incident that has shaken Italy, after a Local Police officer in Milan lost his life during a motorcycle pursuit of a vehicle that failed to obey an order to stop at a checkpoint.

The incident was recorded on Monday evening, at around 9:30 p.m., on Via Vittorini, when Local Police officers noticed an Audi moving suspiciously. According to the preliminary investigation, as soon as the driver was signaled to stop for inspection, he is suspected of immediately accelerating and speeding away, triggering the police chase.

Several officers were involved in the operation, including officer Francesco Imprezzabile, a member of Milan’s Local Police. During the pursuit, the situation reportedly got out of control and colleagues lost contact both with the suspect vehicle and with the officer’s motorcycle.

Shortly afterward, the service vehicle was found stopped by the side of the road, while not far from the scene the lifeless body of 39-year-old Francesco Imprezzabile was discovered. According to the authorities, he had suffered cardiac arrest. Although medical teams intervened immediately, the officer could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case has prompted a wide-ranging investigation by the Italian authorities, who are working to reconstruct every moment of the chase with precision. Investigators are verifying whether there was direct contact between the fleeing vehicle and the police motorcycle, or whether the death was caused by an incident during the pursuit maneuvers.

For the moment, no lead has been ruled out, and technical examinations are being carried out on the vehicles involved, while security camera footage from various areas, including Milan, Peschiera Borromeo and Pioltello, is also being reviewed. Authorities believe this evidence will be crucial in fully clarifying the circumstances.
