Tragedy in Italy: 63-year-old shoots wife and son dead with a hunting rifle

A grave incident shook Wednesday afternoon in Pieve di Camaiore, in the province of Lucca, Italy, where according to initial information a 63-year-old opened fire with a hunting rifle on his 52-year-old wife and 24-year-old son inside the family home.

It was neighbors who raised the alarm, immediately notifying the authorities. Carabinieri and police forces went to the scene and detained the suspected perpetrator. According to reports, he remains at the home under the supervision of the authorities.

Meanwhile, 118 emergency medical teams, as well as a rescue helicopter, also arrived in the area. But despite the doctors’ intervention, the two victims could not be saved.

Residents of the neighborhood said there had been tensions and disagreements within the family, although nothing seemed to foreshadow such a tragic end.

Authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances and motives behind this grave incident.
