Tourist season increases vehicle traffic in Morinë and Vërmicë

At the height of the tourist season, heavy movement of travelers and vehicles was recorded around midday today on both sides of the border between Albania and Kosovo.

At Morinë, an increase in the number of citizens and vehicles entering Albanian territory was observed. The counters are operating at full capacity and, despite the influx, there have so far been no reports of long queues or significant delays.

Increased traffic is also being reported at the Vërmicë border crossing, in the direction of Kosovo. Most of the travelers are citizens of Kosovo returning after holidays on Albania’s coast, as well as members of the diaspora traveling toward their homeland.

Citizens who had chosen Albania to spend the weekend or a few days on holiday are also returning to Kosovo.

The high number of vehicles has also placed additional pressure on traffic along the Nation’s Road. Traffic remains particularly heavy along the Kalimash Tunnel–Kukës–Morinë section.
