Today marks the 83rd day, citizens once again take to the streets against the government: Rama resign!

This Friday, citizens will gather once again in Tirana, continuing their protest against the government and the political establishment for the 83rd consecutive day.

As in recent days, protesters are expected to gather first at “Skënderbej” Square and then march toward the Prime Minister’s Office, where they will continue their rally and speeches.

The protest is focused on Prime Minister Edi Rama and the government, but the criticism has not been limited to the ruling majority. Participants have also repeatedly attacked the opposition led by Sali Berisha, calling for the removal of what they describe as the old political establishment.

“Rama in prison, Berisha in prison” has become one of the protesters’ main chants. Alongside it, the slogans “Edi Rama, resign,” “Without youth there is no Albania,” and “Albania demands a revolution” have also been heard during the rallies.

A day earlier, during the 82nd protest, citizens marched from “Skënderbej” Square toward the Prime Minister’s Office. After the speeches in front of the government building ended, they continued marching through the capital’s streets.

From the podium, accusations were made concerning corruption, depopulation, education, property ownership, and the way natural resources are administered. Protesters also raised the issue of investments and projects in areas such as Sazan, Zvërnec, and Rrjolli.

“Corruption has destroyed everything; corruption has destroyed the schools, the universities, the forests, and property ownership,” one of the protesters declared during Thursday’s rally.

Another participant emphasized the need for citizens to unite and for constitutional changes.

“Only by standing united can we succeed. This resistance is the true strength of a united nation,” he said.
