Three drivers face criminal proceedings in Durrës and Kavajë on suspicion of attempting to give money to traffic police officers to avoid penalties for traffic violations.

According to a police statement, checks carried out as part of traffic monitoring identified two cases in Durrës and one in Kavajë in which drivers with irregular documentation attempted to bribe officers.
Criminal proceedings were initiated against K. M., 47, and E. A., 30, both residents of Durrës, and A. K., 35, a resident of Peqin. All three remain at liberty and are suspected of the criminal offence of “Active corruption of persons exercising public functions”.
The case files were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
Durrës traffic police have urged drivers to comply with traffic rules and invited members of the public to report any violations by calling 112, guaranteeing anonymity and a response from police services.
