Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha said that his visit to the United States of America represents an important moment for Albania and Albanians.

Before leaving for the US, Berisha said he was going to America with the same conviction he had in March 1991.

According to him, the visit to the US is the trip of a lifetime for Albania, while on a personal level, he said he would meet his friends and tell them: “I have arrived.”

“I am leaving for the US with the same conviction I had in March 1991: that the great land of freedom will support Albania and Albanians in their efforts to free themselves from an authoritarian dictatorship based on drugs, crime and the theft of Albanians. Your presence here shows that this is the trip of a lifetime for Albania. On a personal level, I am going to meet my friends and tell them, ‘I have arrived,’” the Democratic Party leader said.

Asked whether he would meet Donald Trump, Berisha laughed and said: “No, I will not meet him.”

He also had a message for Edi Rama: “As for Padrino, I tell him that he is leaving as Padrino and arriving as Ramaduro.”
