“There is interference from Iran,” Rama tells France24: There are protests in Tirana, but in Vlora people want the project

Prime Minister Edi Rama gave an interview to the well-known French television channel “France24” regarding the protest against the project in Zvërnec. Rama stressed that the protests against the $4 billion investment in Zvërnec are also being fueled by external factors.

He mentioned Iran and competitors in the region as part of the interference that, according to him, aims to obstruct the development of the project. The Prime Minister further stated that the protests are taking place in Tirana, while in Vlora, where the project is expected to be built, citizens support it.

“This is exactly what is happening. There is a lot of interference, whether from Iran, with which we have been in a cyber war for three years, or from competitors in the region who do not want this development in Albania. There are also the concerns of a part of the population that wants other things. But we were elected to do what we promised, and among those promises is this project. It is very interesting, because there are protests in Tirana, while in Vlora, where the project is supposed to be carried out, people want the project,” Rama declared.
