The murder of Eglant Koçi: data on cryptocurrency accounts found on Armand Shakaj’s computers

Data linked to cryptocurrency accounts has been extracted from computers seized in Armand Shakaj’s offices, increasing investigators’ suspicions that the murder of his friend, Eglant Koçi, may have occurred for financial reasons related to this activity.

Sources say the electronic devices were examined at the Criminalistics Laboratory, where evidence was reportedly found that is expected to carry weight in the progress of the investigation.

Based on these findings, the investigative team will also assess changing the charge from “intentional murder,” which is currently being investigated, to another, more serious criminal offense.

Armand Shakaj is accused of killing his friend, Eglant Koçi, and then throwing the lifeless body into a ravine on the outskirts of Elbasan. The young man’s body was found after about two weeks in a state of decomposition, while the forensic examination revealed that he had been shot once in the head.

Meanwhile, Armand Shakaj remains on the run, while negotiations are underway with his family members for him to surrender.
