“The head of the dictatorship is the government”: Strong call on the boulevard, bringing down Rama as the mission of the protest

On the 37th day of the citizens’ protest in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, another strong message was heard from the podium. A woman who addressed the participants described in harsh terms the way the current government functions, while also stressing that this revolt must preserve calm at all costs and must not veer toward violence.

She argued that Albania is not only in a prolonged transition process, but is facing a system that, according to her, is an “oligarchic dictatorship” with international reach.

The protester emphasized that this movement must remain peaceful, because only in this way, according to her, can a complete victory be achieved.

“If we slide into violence, the mission of this protest fails, a protest that seeks the end of this transition. This transition is an oligarchic dictatorship, it is an oligarchy raised to the level of an international mafia! And the head of it is the government itself,” she declared bluntly.

Placing today’s situation against the country’s bleak past, she said the protest has already brought an important value that must not be lost: the awakening of people’s conscience without the mediation of politicians.

“Bringing down Rama is the duty of the protest, not of the institutions that may be set up in the name of the protest. After Rama is brought down, then institutions can be established, even an Assembly of the protest! This is the value the protest brought,” she said.
