Thailand/Student kills grandparents with grandfather’s gun and then opens fire at school, five teachers dead

Thailand has been hit by a tragic incident after a student killed his grandparents at their home and then attacked the school he attended with a gun, leaving victims and dozens injured.

After the crime at his grandparents’ house, the perpetrator took a gun registered in the name of his grandfather, who had previously been a teacher, and headed to a school on the outskirts of Bangkok, where he began shooting.

According to authorities, 26 rounds were fired during the attack, while another 34 rounds were seized at the scene.

The Ministry of Health announced that 22 people were injured. Nine of them are in critical condition, while several others suffered injuries as they tried to flee the attack area without being directly hit by bullets.

The deputy interior minister said that the victims among the teaching staff were five teachers, revising the initial toll, which had reported six dead.

The reason that led the perpetrator to carry out the attack remains unclear. Police spokesman Trairong Phiwphan said the gun is suspected to have been taken from a family member of the perpetrator, while efforts to fully document the incident and determine the motive are continuing.
