Tahiri criticizes delay in the law on the Special Court: It is not a NASA document

Alliance MP Besnik Tahiri has criticized Kosovo’s institutions for still failing to send to the Assembly the draft law aimed at amending and supplementing the Law on the Specialist Chambers.

One week before a decision is made on whether the country will face new elections, Tahiri said that key issues are once again being addressed only at the last minute.

“Today, when we are only one week away from the Assembly’s decision on possible elections, serious issues continue to be postponed until the final 24 hours. This style of governance has brought society to a point where everything is dragged out and institutions move only when faced with a crisis. Why is the Ministry of Justice not sending the law to the Assembly? We are not talking about some NASA analytical document, but about a law with several articles that can be reviewed, amended and voted on. Why is this anti-state approach being pursued? Whose burden are we leaving this to?” Tahiri wrote.

He also raised the question of why a genuine debate is not being held on the election of the president.

“Why is there no serious discussion about building a functioning state and accountability? Because the impression is being created that the aim is not to resolve the crises, but to move continuously from one crisis to another. This cannot be called governance. It is merely postponing the problem until the last moment. A state is not governed in the final 24 hours,” he declared.
