Tabaku: KAYO represents the final link in government corruption, with healthcare at risk next

Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku criticized, in a video posted on social media, the way the state-owned company KAYO is organized and operates. According to her, the company is part of a broader corruption scheme that began with the incinerators, the Investment Corporation, roads and AKSHI.

Tabaku said the model pursued by the government has led to the capture of the state and created isolated structures that undermine competition in the economy and the functioning of democracy. She stressed that these companies are outside the oversight of the Supreme State Audit, but operate under the control of the prime minister; they do not participate in free economic competition, but are part of the government’s inner circle.

The MP said KAYO has established four companies which, according to her, are not subject to ordinary state oversight and auditing and are accountable only to the prime minister. Tabaku described them as “islands of lawlessness” and closed spaces where there is no transparency regarding the use of public funds.

“KAYO is this government’s final godmother,” Tabaku said, adding that these structures receive millions of euros from the budget every month, while citizens are not informed about how the funds are used or where they end up. She linked these developments to the cases involving the incinerators, AKSHI and the healthcare sector.

According to her, the lack of public procurement, the elimination of competition and the capture of the state pose a direct threat to the economy and democracy. Tabaku warned that, after KAYO, the same model could be extended to healthcare. “Let us forget about having a functioning democracy when we do not have a free economy,” the Democratic Party MP concluded.
