Switzerland Orders the Deportation of 35-Year-Old Man from North Macedonia

The Swiss Federal Administrative Court has upheld the deportation order against a 35-year-old citizen of North Macedonia. The Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) accused him of supporting the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS).

In addition to deportation, the 35-year-old has been banned from entering Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein for 20 years.

The order for his removal was issued by the Federal Office of Police in 2022, after the authorities determined that he had become radicalized.

The ruling states that the convicted man had disseminated propaganda on social media in support of the ideology of the Islamic State. According to the court, he had also assisted the terrorist organization logistically and financially.

The court deemed the measure proportionate and, for this reason, rejected the appeal filed by the 35-year-old.

He arrived in Switzerland in 2014. The citizen of North Macedonia is married to a woman from Kosovo, and the couple has three children, while his family members have permanent residence permits in Switzerland.

The Federal Administrative Court acknowledged that his removal interferes with family life, but assessed that his wife and children can visit him in North Macedonia.

The court concluded that the public interest in ensuring security and deporting him takes precedence over the 35-year-old’s private interest in remaining in Switzerland. The decision of the Federal Administrative Court is final and can no longer be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court, reports Zhurnal.mk.
