Nadir Rossi, the 35-year-old Italian accused of killing his wife, Jessica Dalla Chiara, by injecting her with insulin, will remain in a Verona prison, where he has been held for several days. Preliminary investigations judge Carola Musio rejected the defense’s request to place him under house arrest. He faces a charge of intentional homicide with several aggravating circumstances.
Italian media reports have revealed further details from the investigation, including Rossi’s actions after his wife’s death that raised suspicions among her parents. They have cited his meetings with his girlfriend on the day of the funeral, the birthday party he held for her in the home where Jessica had lived, and his interest in a life insurance policy.

Jessica’s mother said that Rossi had lunch with his girlfriend on the day of the funeral. He met her again that evening, this time accompanied by his young daughter. The two are suspected of having planned to go to the coast the following day.
Forty days after Jessica’s death, Rossi celebrated his girlfriend’s birthday at the home he had shared with his wife in Bussolengo, in the province of Verona. The loud noise prompted neighbors to call the police, and the party ended after the Carabinieri intervened.
According to the victim’s mother, the celebrations also included fireworks. She said she later learned that her granddaughter had spent the night with her paternal grandparents, while Rossi and his girlfriend had slept in the bed where Jessica had died.
Family members have testified that other events deepened their suspicions. Jessica’s mother claimed that, in July 2024, the 35-year-old entered her home and disabled the alarm.
She also said she had learned that Rossi had asked whether there was life insurance, as his niece would be a potential beneficiary.
Relations between Rossi and Jessica’s parents also became strained over money. According to them, Rossi immediately demanded the life insurance payout and sold his wife’s car, refusing to sell it to their nephew.
The family’s testimony also describes what happened during preparations for the funeral, to which friends and acquaintances had contributed financially. According to family members, Jessica’s mother was accused and insulted, being called “a thief and dishonest.”
Forensic expert Roberta Bruzzone summarized these episodes in materials she prepared. According to reports, they helped strengthen the suspicions that led to Rossi’s arrest.
The investigation into Jessica Dalla Chiara’s death continues. Nadir Rossi remains a suspect, and the charges against him have yet to be examined by the courts.
