Siljanovska and Slaveski Discuss Economic Stability and Proposal for Third Deputy Governor

President Gordana Siljanovska Davkova held a meeting today with National Bank Governor Trajko Slaveski, who briefed her on the main macroeconomic indicators and measures taken as part of macroeconomic policy.

The discussion also addressed the effects that global geostrategic, financial and energy trends could have on the Macedonian economy, including their impact on industry, trade and construction.

According to Slaveski’s assessment, the economy is stable and recording solid growth. He nevertheless stressed the need to carefully monitor dependence on imports, as well as movements in food and energy prices.

Siljanovska Davkova and Slaveski shared the view that professional and competent personnel are essential to the efficient operation of the National Bank and the protection of the country’s financial stability. In this context, the governor announced that the proposal for the appointment of the third deputy governor has already been submitted to Parliament.

At the conclusion of the meeting, it was stressed that maintaining macroeconomic stability and a sound financial system remains among the main priorities for the country’s development.
