Shooting at a California shopping mall leaves one dead and six injured, three in critical condition

A shooting at a shopping mall in California last night left one person dead and six others injured.

According to local police chief Dan Marshall, the incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. at the Spirit Halloween store inside Solano Town Center in Fairfield.

The victim died at the scene, while the injured were taken to local hospitals. Three of them are in critical condition.

Authorities have not yet released the ages or identities of those involved. It is still unclear who carried out the attack, whether there was one shooter or several, and what the motive was.

The store was full of customers at the time of the shooting; many were shopping for costumes, decorations, and other Halloween items.

A man said his wife, who was in the store, had heard about seven gunshots.

“She told me she heard gunfire and then saw people running, screaming, and crying,” he said.

Another witness said a Spirit Halloween employee ran to a nearby restaurant to take shelter.

“I was at Chipotle when a girl who worked at Spirit came in and said they came in and started shooting,” the witness said.
