Shock in Athens: Dead Baby Found in Suitcase, Investigation Underway into Disturbing Circumstances

Greek police discovered the body of a dead baby inside a suitcase during an operation in the Kypseli area of Athens.

The case came to light after the owner of an apartment in the center of the Greek capital, which had been rented out through Airbnb, contacted the authorities.

The owner had sought police assistance because the people renting the property refused to leave. He also suspected that drugs were being used inside the apartment.

When DIAS patrol officers arrived in the area, the owner directed them to the apartment. Inside, they found a Greek man, his 15-year-old daughter and an Afghan national.

Police also established that two minors and a German woman, who had previously filed a police report, were present. Officers took two suitcases from the apartment and transported them to the police station for inspection.

During the search, the body of a dead baby was discovered inside one of the suitcases, a finding that shocked the officers.

The German woman is believed to have told investigators that the baby was her child and had died around eight months earlier. The exact cause of death has yet to be determined, as has the manner in which the body was preserved and transported.

The investigation is also focusing on another disturbing piece of information. The 15-year-old girl found in the apartment is believed to be pregnant, while the Afghan national who was present at the property is suspected of being the father of the child.

Greek authorities have launched a preliminary investigation to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the case. The prosecutor’s office has also been informed.
