Shkodra police thwart second explosive attack attempt against Preng Gjini, one arrested and one wanted

A serious crime has been prevented by the Shkodra police forces. It concerns a new assassination attempt that, according to investigative data and confiscated evidence, would have targeted Preng Gjini.

He survived an explosion from a moving explosive device in September 2020, near the Selita area in Tirana.

Several days ago, officers of the northern city’s police arrested 38-year-old Euglen Buraku in flagrante delicto. This citizen, resident in Durrës, was caught in the village of Stajkë in Vau i Dejës while driving a vehicle with old, superimposed license plates.

At the moment of the stop, Buraku possessed a quantity of explosive material connected to a mobile phone, which served as a remote detonation mechanism. During the forensic examination of his phone, a saved photograph of the intended victim, Preng Gjini, was found.

Investigators have also uncovered a second person involved, the suspect Eduard Përgjoka, 34 years old. During a search of his apartment in Rubik, detonator caps, 11 mobile phones, and cannabis seeds were seized.

Përgjoka has been declared wanted by the authorities. He and Euglen Buraku are being jointly investigated for the criminal offenses of attempted premeditated murder, illegal possession of weapons, and production and sale of narcotics.

Referring to the investigations of the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) in the case known as “REVANSHI”, the first assassination attempt against Preng Gjini was motivated by a blood feud.

For that case, six individuals have been indicted, including the mastermind and persons who provided the necessary conditions and material means to carry out the murder. Some of them are under arrest, while others are wanted.
