SHISH scandal, Dashamir Shehi: If this had happened in Austria or Germany, the prime minister would have left immediately! Rama’s state does not work

On Wednesday, LZHK leader Dashamir Shehi appeared on the “Minuta e Parë” program, where he also discussed the latest scandal involving SHISH and former director Vlora Hyseni, following the discovery of messages exchanged with arrested businessman Ergys Agasi.

Shehi stressed that if something like this had happened in Austria or Germany, the prime minister would have resigned long ago.

He added that Rama’s government and state do not work, and that the scandal and the disclosure of data from SHISH and Vlora Hyseni had proved this.

Shehi: A great disgrace. The disgrace is not the words they use to describe their relationship. Let them do whatever they want. What does it say there in three lines? It asks whether you spoke to so-and-so, a police officer, and whether you spoke to the prime minister. “We’re waiting,” they say. “We need time.” What does “time” mean? This is what the prime minister says—that these things get dealt with in time. In the meantime, evidence is erased, money disappears, people are bribed, and witnesses are threatened. This has happened so many times in Albania.

With this particular kind of operation they carry out, you cannot say that human rights are being violated. Human rights are being violated all the time, in courtrooms. If the state has problems and some people need to be targeted, then of course they will be. But politically—because he is waiting for justice—if this had happened in Austria or Germany, the prime minister would have left. We have never had that culture. Who can you remember resigning? They do it in extreme circumstances. They resign for themselves, not for the state. At least I can save my own skin.

If 10 ministers turn out to be involved, it is no longer a matter of personal responsibility. Who gave this woman the right to wiretap half of Albania? Do you have a restaurant where you caught a waiter stealing? This is the Albanian state. His government, his state, does not work. Has this prime minister ever handed over two of his officials to the prosecution and said, “Come and get them”? If you are not up to the job, then leave.
