She Sought Minor Jaw Surgery but Suffered Severe Facial Deformity and Lost Her Modeling Job

A woman from China claims that cosmetic surgery intended to make a minor adjustment to her jaw caused severe facial deformity.

The patient, known by the pseudonym Xiaoyu and originally from Wuhan, said the procedure was supposed to move her lower jaw back by just 2 millimeters. Instead, she claims, her jaw was pushed forward by around 13 millimeters.

According to the woman, this change made her jaw appear more prominent and visibly altered her facial structure. After the surgery, she said she noticed that her face had become longer and asymmetrical, while her bite problems had worsened.

Xiaoyu, who previously worked as a model, claims that the changes to her appearance cost her her job. She estimates that corrective procedures could cost more than 300,000 yuan (38,540 euros) and that treatment could take a long time.

The woman has appealed to the hospital and local health authorities for help, but the matter has yet to be resolved./TAR
