Serious Incident in Greece: Man Shoots Albanian Woman and Then Takes His Own Life

This morning, 23 August 2023, a man and a woman of Albanian origin were found dead at the entrance to an apartment building in Nea Smyrni, Athens, with gunshot wounds.

Greek authorities suspect that this was a murder followed by suicide, reports Protothema.

According to preliminary investigation findings, the man allegedly ambushed the 45-year-old woman on Grigoriou Kydonion Street, at number 3.

He allegedly shot her dead and then killed himself.

The daughter of the 45-year-old woman lives in the building where the incident occurred. Police are examining this detail as they try to reconstruct the woman’s movements before the incident.

Based on the information available so far, there is no indication that the two victims were married. However, investigators are trying to determine the nature of the relationship between them, as well as the motive that may have led to the crime.

According to preliminary suspicions, the 45-year-old woman had gunshot wounds to her body and face. The man was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

The firearm was also found next to his body, a detail that reinforces the authorities’ theory that, after shooting the woman, he took his own life.
